Nota Bene

His Imperial and Royal Highness, Imre von Habsburg, granted the following interview with the
understanding that I would refrain from distributing it to the print media.
I am honoring that request.  I would expect others to do likewise.
If somebody desires to forward this interview to other websites, kindly contact me
and I will submit the request to His Imperial and Royal Highness.  Thank you for understanding!

Meeting a Habsburg

October 2010

Dear Friends and Family,

As several of you know, I have had a devotion to Blessed Karl, Emperor of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. My first exposure to this incredible king, father, and husband was in the pages of The Remnant  in an article entitled, "The Beatification of Europe's Heart: Emperor Charles of Austria."
The article, written by Lt. Col. James Bogle, moved me.  I was touched that Blessed Karl was such a man of peace!! He prohibited the shelling of Italian cities to prevent civilian casualties, refused to take part in the U-boat war against civilian shipping, banned the use of poison gas, tried to broker a peace deal with the Allies thus infuriating the bellicose Prussians who controlled Germany, and did not permit Lenin to travel through any of his lands. After I read this article I purchased A Heart for Europe by James and Joanna Bogle.  I have had a special devotion to Blessed Karl every since.

Last Sunday I believe that I received a signal grace from the Blessed Trinity!!  I met a Habsburg!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Following Mass, a friend of mine, Jon Kabel told me that a Habsburg sat several pews behind me during Mass.  I asked Jon where I could find this man.  He told me that his son would show me.  Sure enough, Jon's son pointed to His Imperial Highness, Imre Von Habsburg.  I introduced myself and shook hands with a relative of Blessed Karl!!!!  We talked about the last Emperor of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and at the end of our conversation I asked an impertinent question.  I asked for his address.  He told me with his gloriously thick German accent that he would give me his email address.  When I gave him my restorethehabsburgs address he chuckled and could see that I loved the Habsburgs!  As quickly as this wonderful experience began, it was over.  But then again, was it?  Perhaps, one day, we will meet again.

During my trip home the tears welled up in my eyes.  I met a relative of Blessed Karl just three days after his feast day on October 21!  When I arrived at my house, the doubting Thomas in me needed to verify whether I had actually met His Imperial Highness, Imre Von Habsburg.  I googled him and sure enough found him.  I am including the site where I found his picture. (Since I wrote the letter in October, I discovered that the previous site no longer included a picture of His Imperial Highness.  Here is another site.)
His name is Archduke Imre of Austria, born on December 8, 1985-the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.  He is the first son of Archduke Carl Christian of Austria and Archduchess Marie Astrid of Austria.  Isn't that incredible?

If you have the opportunity, purchase
A Heart for Europe and find out why Winston Churchill said that the old Austrian Monarchy was like a beautiful vase: those who smashed it could not put it back together again.  Finally, here is an inspirational Youtube of Blessed Karl.

In Christ Our King,

Erick

Thanks to another Eric, I am including an excerpt from Empress Zita's funeral. See the video on the upper right. "Gott erhalte, Gott beschütze unsern Kaiser, unser Land..."  Also, enjoy the two lower videos, the Kaiser Waltz and  Miramar Castle that was built for a Habsburg, Maximilian I, in Trieste, Italy!
